Alex Wolk

Yoga has been a constant part of Alex's life for more than fifteen years. She turned to her mat to help navigate college, a modeling career, living in China (twice), moving to NYC nine years ago and a career in public relations, among many other life changes. As she continued to develop a more consistent practice, tuning inwards and creating space for balance within, Alex felt the growth begin to trickle off of her mat and into her daily life. Empowered by these positive changes, Alex decided to become a yoga instructor, obtaining her 200-hour teacher training certificate with Y7 Studio in 2019. This transformed her life forever. She then went on to complete a mentorship with Y7 Studio, gaining another 100 hours toward her certification. In early 2020, Alex took a leap of faith and left her career in PR to pursue teaching full-time. COVID-19 hit as this transition began, but she quickly pivoted to teaching online via Zoom. Currently, she guides two virtual donation-based multilevel Vinyasa classes per week, and works with private clients based on their specific needs and goals. Additionally, she is deepening and evolving her personal practice and offerings by studying Yin yoga with New Love City and Be Shakti. Alex's goal is to create a space that is accessible to all. Where students move safely through poses in a way that allows them to show up authentically as themselves, both on and off the mat. To do this, Alex relies on her words, grounded in her understanding of anatomy and the intelligent sequencing format, as well as energetic playlists that help drive the pace of each class. Alex lives in Greenpoint with her husband Adam and dog Kevin.
