While we can’t be on a beach, we can have that frozen drink but made even better with our health in mind! Pineapple is rich in various essential nutrients and contains a powerful enzyme called bromelain which is known for a plethora of health benefits like reducing inflammation and improving digestion. Mango has its own superpowers. It contains the enzyme amylase which helps us breakdown carbohydrates, also improving digestion. Mango is high in fiber which can help keep things running smoothly in the bowel department. Mango is rich in beta carotene and it is also a good source of copper, vitamin C, vitamin E, and folate!
If you are working out, it is essential that you consume adequate amounts of protein to support muscle protein synthesis; the building of lean muscle mass. In order to stimulate this, you need at least 30 grams of high-quality protein. Mix in your favorite protein powder to maximize your efforts from your workout and build that lean muscle mass you have been training for!
What you need:
3 oz frozen mango chunks
6 oz unsweetened vanilla coconut milk
1 scoop vanilla protein powder of choice
2 oz pineapple juice
½ oz shredded toasted coconut flakes
What to do:
- In a blender place all ingredients except the coconut flakes
- Blend until all contents are smooth and there are no chunks of mango
- Pour into glass and sprinkle coconut flakes on top
